Arrival and Dismissal Procedures

Adhere to school developed, on-site traffic plans for vehicles when bringing students to school or picking them up after school. Encourage your children if they are walkers and bike riders to follow safety rules  and use pedestrian-safety features where available.

Milwaukee Avenue will be the entrance and exit for all vehicles during arrival and dismissal.  There will be no left turns allowed from Milwaukee as you arrive, and no left turns allowed when you depart.  When approaching from the west on Beltrees, turn right onto Milwaukee and proceed south to the entrance drive.  Those arriving from the north or south will want to travel on Douglas Ave. to Beltrees and turn east.  As you approach the drop off/pickup line, politely merge from two lanes to one.  The inside lane is used for emergency pick-up from 8:15 to 1:30. After 1:30, parents may use the inside line during dismissal.  Remember we are setting examples of respectful behavior for our children.

At dismissal time students should be seated in Alphabetical Groups by last name. As you pull up, please proceed to the farthest space available to allow for the optimum number of vehicles loading/unloading at one time.  Patrols will assist you by opening the car doors for your children.  Hang tags with the last name of the student/students you are picking up must be visible.  Tags may be picked up in the front office if needed.  If the student is not ready to depart, the driver will be asked to leave the pick-up area and circle the block again.  There will be approximately 14 pick-up/drop-off stations in operation at all times and if one car is not ready to leave it will hold up the entire process, so we ask your cooperation if you are asked to move along.  We ask that all parents review this procedure with your students and anyone who might carpool with them.

You must not park or leave your car unattended in the car line during arrival/dismissal. If you are planning to enter the campus, please locate a visitor parking space off of Milwaukee Ave. and leave your car there. You may park your car in a visitor space and walk your student to the front of the school. There is no parking or dropping students off in the front staff parking lot. Students may not be dropped off or picked up except in the car line where safety patrols are posted.

VIOLATIONS OF TRAFFIC PLANS FOR VEHICLES SHOWN WILL RESULT IN A LETTER HOME AND POSSIBLY WRITTEN WARNINGS TO STUDENTS. IF REPEATED (Jay walking, inappropriate drop off and pick up spots, etc...)

During arrival or dismissal, please do not allow a child to enter or exit from the driver’s side. Please refrain from unloading or loading items from vehicles during arrival or dismissal while in the car line.

Parents must notify the office if their student will be picked up by a day care service or anyone other than the parent.  If you carpool, please notify the office in writing of any changes.  Be sure to notify the rest of the carpool.

If there is lightning in the area or a severe thunderstorm, we will dismiss the students from the auditorium as their vehicle arrives.  Please be patient as this process may take additional time compared to our normal dismissal system.  If there is severe thunderstorms or heavy rain, dismissal will be postponed until it is safe for students to come to the front of the school.

Bicycles, Scooters, etc. must be walked on school property. You may not ride them until reaching the public sidewalk.
